ABOUT

Suzanne Nutt Landscapes assists clients with landscape master planning, landscape design, selection of contractors, and construction supervision. Recent projects include seaside gardens, pools and organic vegetable gardens, contemporary suburban outdoor living spaces, pools, and gardens,  and, outdoor studio work spaces for major contemporary artists.

Suzanne has had a lifelong professional commitment to creating innovative ways to enhance the health and well-being of individuals and communities.  Prior to her training in landscape design, Suzanne had a career in developing innovative new health care delivery systems and companies that would enhance access to affordable, high quality health care.   

 

In addition to SNL's private clients, we provide pro bono landscape design services to urban non profit organizations committed to environmental justice and urban sustainability.   For many years, SNL has assisted Greater Newark Conservancy with their Outdoor Learning Center and organic Hawthorne Avenue Farm in Newark, New Jersey.  In addition, Suzanne has taught Introduction to Landscape Design to urban farmers and community gardeners in Newark through the Newark Urban Growers School. 

 

Suzanne received a Certificate in Landscape Design from The New York Botanic Garden. In addition to her professional  training, Suzanne has visited and studied important gardens throughout the United States, Europe, North Africa, and Asia, and was a Harrison Fellow at the Historic Landscapes Institute at Thomas Jefferson’s Monticello and the University of Virginia. She received a Bachelor’s Degree in History from Wesleyan University and a Master’s Design in Public Health from Yale University.  Suzanne is currently a member of the Board of the Greater Newark Conservancy, a non-profit in Newark, NJ dedicated to urban revitalization, youth development, and food sufficiency through urban farming and environmental stewardship.​​
