The new owner of a small cottage in historic Springs, NY wanted to create a private, restful retreat when she was there alone as well as when entertaining family and guests.   To acheive a more secluded feeling, the driveway was moved to the side of the house and new fencing, shrubs, native grasses and perennials were added throughout the property to create numerous lush and serene spaces more separated from the adjacent streets..   The design took advantage of the property's extensive mature oak and evergreen trees.
