SNL designed a contemporary family retreat for a property in the Northwest Woods of  East Hampton.  Existing plantings were removed or relocated to create expansive open green spaces surrounded by towering mature trees. A procession of white crape myrtles under-planted with carex grasses and a mix of flowering perennials and Black Knight butterfly bushes welcome arriving visitors.  Located on a new fieldstone platform, SNL custom designed a new gunite pool, bluestone patio and renovated an existing deck to create spaces for relaxation, socializing and the family's many outdoor activities.  All-season planting beds with a mix of grasses, hydrangea and deep purple, lavender, whites and orange perennials surround the pool. A later phase of the project will include addition of an all white, shade garden with masses of oak leaf hydrangea, rhododendron, viburnum, ferns, hosta, astilbe and spring bulbs along the backyard perimeter, mixed evergreen plantings along the driveway, and grasses and mixed perennials along the street front.
